The Civic Center Community Benefit District (CBD) is entering the last weekend of “Holiday Fanfare,” and is planning to go all out for these remaining dates. From Friday the 18th, through to Wednesday, the 23rd, there will be seven more concerts.
“We greatly expanded the number of concerts this year, from 6 to 19, and the number of days we program, from 6 to 15,” said Donald Savoie, Civic Center CBD’s executive director. “We wanted to really see if we could positively impact the people passing through Civic Center, whether for ballet, music, dinner or jury duty.”
Spearheaded by the External Affairs Committee of the Civic Center CBD, “Fanfare” is a series of performances meant to activate neighborhood streets and bring holiday cheer to the residents and the thousands of visitors and arts patrons that enjoy San Francisco’s home of history, culture and government. The CBD started with 6 in 2013.
“What has been great is to see people’s smiles as they walk by hearing, ‘Feliz Navidad,’ or pause to listen to a melancholy ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.’ They forget for a moment and have a little fun,” said Savoie.
