Award-winning Market Square consists of two buildings joined by a landscaped plaza spanning an entire block along Market Street between 9th and 10th Streets in San Francisco’s Civic Center/Mid-Market area. The original building, formerly known as the Western Furniture Exchange and Merchandise Mart, is an Art Deco icon. Shorenstein redeveloped the 1355 Market Street Building while maintaining its classic architecture and, at the same time, offering modern and state-of-the-art conveniences. Market Square has served as the catalyst for the resurgence of the area—it is Twitter’s world headquarters and more than 4,500 new residential units have risen in recent years.
