Civic Center Plaza Holiday Tree Lighting 2025

December 3, 4pm and tree lighting at 5:30pm

The annual Civic Center Plaza Tree Lighting is taking place across the street from an illuminated City Hall on Wednesday, December 3rd, 4-7pm! Featuring a night of festive entertainment, performances include the Tap Dancing Christmas Trees, the San Francisco Boys Chorus, Magician Joshua Andrews, The Broadway All-Star Band, Boswick the Clown, the Grinch and more!

The event also includes a toy giveaway for the first 500 children with Another Planet Entertainment and the SFPD, holiday crafting (Ornament making! Santa letter writing station! Holiday crowns!) with SF Etsy in the Makers Village and a children’s book giveaway from the SF Public Library. The weather calls for “snow” flurries, and there will be holiday beverages and bites for purchase, including Off the Grid’s Melina’s Kitchen. Also the night wouldn’t be complete without a visit from the VIP-of-the-hour: Santa!

The event starts at 4pm, with the lighting of the freshly cut 50-foot noble fir at approximately 5:30pm by Mayor Daniel Lurie.

RSVP here for an event day reminder, but no ticket needed to attend. Happening rain or shine.

This event has been led by the Civic Center Community Benefit District since 2016. This year’s lead sponsor is Cordia; also thank you to sponsors Redwood Credit Union, Streetplus and our community partners.
