Juneteenth Kick-Off Rally

June 17, noon-3pm

Juneteenth kicks-off with a rally on the front steps of City Hall — speakers, music, dancing and more.

From Do The Bay: “Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the June 1865 announcement when enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas got word from Union Army General Gordon Granger that they were finally freed. Stand with us on June 17th on the steps of City Hall as we continue to demand justice and equity for Black San Franciscans.

DJ Dave will be in the house and entertainment will include spoken word artists, the Caribbean Queen of Dance, and will conclude with a dance party in the streets. Speakers will be addressing eliminating disparities experienced by Black San Franciscans in the areas of housing, education, health, mass incarceration and policing injustice, employment and homelessness.”

Hosted by Wealth and Disparities in the Black Community.
