The 40th Annual Japanese New Year Bell-Ringing Ceremony takes place at the Asian Art Museum on Sunday, December 28: “Ring in the New Year by taking a swing at a 2,100-pound, 16th-century Japanese temple bell.” Museum members bell ringing starts at 10:30am and the general public at 1pm, with ticket distribution beginning at noon.
The museum notes: “We encourage visitors to purchase general admission tickets in advance. An admission ticket guarantees entry to the museum, but a separate numbered ticket (available at the entrance to Samsung Hall) is required to ring the bell.”
