Join the Civic Center Community Benefit District and the Mechanics’ Institute for a low stakes, high fun, chess tournament in UN Plaza on May 31, 10am-3pm. The USCF-rated, and non-rated, chess tournament is open for all youth through 12th grade.
Also try your hand at a game against Grandmaster Sam Shankland during the simultaneous exhibition (where a chess player plays multiple other players at one time). Sign ups for the simultaneous will take place at the event.
Sign up here for the tournament. Free. Trophies for the top 5, medals for others. Check it time is by 9:45am; on-site registrations will fill up spots for players who haven’t checked in by 9:45 am.
Free game tables will also be set up, for all ages, who are stopping by for a fun, non-tournament game as well.
