October 4, 11am-noon & October 6, 6pm
As part of Fleet Week 2022 events, Navy and Marine bands are playing free concerts throughout San Francisco. In Civic Center, the 1st Marine Division Band is part of the official kick off at the steps of City Hall on October 4, 11am-noon. Following this on October 6 at 6pm, the 1st Marine Division Band and Ceremonial Band will perform at the Herbst Theatre (401 Van Ness Ave).
From the Fleet Week site: “The 1st Marine Division Band, based at Camp Pendleton, California, consists of 50 Marine musicians… smaller ensembles are formed such as the Popular Music Group, Jazz Combo, Brass Quintet, Octet Ensemble, and Brass Band.” Of the Ceremonial Band, the site notes: “Whether performing for the President of the United States, foreign dignitaries, local military commands, or various communities throughout the United States, the 1st Marine Division Band represents the very best of Marine Corps music and is the ‘Pride of the Division’.”
