May 31 - September 8
A national holiday as of 2021, Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved Black people. “Juneteenth and Beyond,” curated by the African American Center, features images from historical and recent Juneteenth celebrations and information on the history of this holiday “as well as ideas for thinking of Black liberation and reparations beyond a federal holiday.” See the exhibit at the Grove Street entrance of the Main Library.
