Service Tension at the SFAC Gallery

May 29-August 23

Service Tension, a group exhibition curated by Elena Gross and Leila Weefur featuring work by Salimatu Amabebe, Ricki Dwyer, Xandra Ibarra, Sasha Kelley, Tiona Nekkia McClodden, and Autumn Wallace. The exhibition will explore the messiness and complexity of the queer body.  See it at the SFAC Gallery, with the opening reception Thursday, May 29 at 6-8pm. SFAC Main Gallery, 401 Van Ness Ave, Ste 126; on view through August 23; gallery hours Weds-Sat, noon-5pm.

Also see at City Hall, on the ground Floor and at the North Court, are photos of the Metaphors of Recent Times: A Dialogue of the Personal, the Political and the Cultural exhibit. The exhibition features, “twenty works from PhotoAlliance’s INSIGHT/INCITE 20/20 portfolio from 2023, alongside work by twenty-four artists that respond to themes present in the portfolio. The exhibition features a wide range of incisive visual perspectives from artists of diverse identities and background, each responding to the issues of our times.” This is on display through June 20 during City Hall public hours; more info on the SFAC site.
