Through July 6
Skateboarding San Francisco: Concrete, Community, Continuity is on view at the Main Branch of the San Francisco Public Library.
“Skateboarding San Francisco explores how a local activity made a global impact. San Francisco has always been and remains a lodestar for skateboarders worldwide, where challenges are seen as appeals, surfaces beckon play and whose lore is celebrated through the city’s characteristic concrete and evolving, vibrant communities.”
Skateboarding San Francisco: Concrete, Community, Continuity was co-curated by Ted Barrow with Library staff, Megan Merritt and Allison Wyckoff, and will run from February 13 through July 6, in the SFPL Main Library’s Jewett Gallery.
Skateboarding San Francisco is presented in conjunction with a series of satellite exhibitions that will open in the Main Library throughout Spring 2025 and the official expansion of the UN Skate Plaza. In partnership with The Skatepark Project (TSP) and Converse, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department plans to add new skate elements and redesigned paving to make the space more accessible and fun to skaters of all backgrounds.
